What I learnt

This week in Maths I learnt how to jump through a tidy number line to solve a problem e.g.
49+?=94
49+1=50+40=90+4=94
1+40+4=45
How do I know if my answer is right.
49+45=94 (9+5=14, 40+40=80+14=94)
